Default Z06 front gill insert in C6 fender. I did it PICS

Z06 front gill insert in C6 front fender. Lots of work but now the front match's my rear widebody which has the insert. I used the front Z06 insert and cut, heated, epoxied and painted it.

Nice work as usual!

You fixed a small problem I find with the widebooty conversion...the front fender looks unfinished compared to the rear fender as the rear brake duct has the bezel...which think makes it look more "finished".

What I'd like to see if a flared front air vent/scoop for the stock front fenders that can be epoxied on and stick out the extra 2" like on the Z06. You can run a 19x10 up front so the wider fenders arent needed for bigger rubber. I just think the bigger side scoop would finish the look without adding 4-5k for the front fenders and bumper.

If someone makes them, I'm first in line to pay full price.

If I can find wrecked front Z06 fenders with the side scoops intact, I'd cut them off and put them on my car and do a long spin thread called Z06ScoopMonster. Any tuners have wrecked Z06 fenders?

Sounds like a great project.

I had a great buying experience with Marc at Vettenuts.com - he's a forum vendor who parts Vettes. He'd be the first one I'd call for Vette junkyard parts. Don't tell him I said so but he's 1/2 the cost of our local Ft. Lauderdale Vette junkyard.

MORE of how to

Push together trim down the 2 post. Then heat lower part with heat gun and install in hole after taping up fender to keep fender from getting scratched up.
Push to form it to the fender shape. This will take a few times heating.

Heat and bend over top.

more net time.

Default bent over

The green tape covers the top two sides were it comes together. I used SEM #68422 two part bumper repair adhesive to fill in on parts of the gill and to bond the top together.

THANKS RAYZZZ MY CORVETTE LIKES MY MONEY
More next time

This is also the top corner after it's trimmed heated and bent over.

Default shorter

I hope I can answer this. It's not all just the bottom. The inside top that goes against the fender is cut shorter in height then the outside. Outside is taller cutting the back (part that does not show when it's installed in the fender) off so only the front that shows is there. Then the outside taller peace that shows is heated and curled then trimmed and heated and curled till it meets the inside which is shorter. The part that rest against the inside of the fender is not thinned up it just rest against the fender. The bottom that does rest against the fender does get flatten against the fender by heating and pressing it against fender.

Thanks for the instruction Rayzzz---What holds it in place? Seems like the clips are too far back to snap in.

Looks like you did a good job getting it to fit

I can't say I approve of the LED's though. Those are unfortunate

Good job overall. Very creative.
