I had ARH headers installed with new front o2 sensors. rears have been delelted with HPtuners (no tune)

I went to get the car inspect (no engine check light) and my o2 sensor say "not ready" on the inspection sheet. "sensor heat: not ready, Sensor: Not Ready"


Would a dyno tune, or just a proper tune, be able to fix this?

Sometimes you need several ignition cycles to make everything "ready". I would put a few miles on it and a few more ignition cycles and then take it back for a re test. as long as you don't have any CEL issues the car should pass.

Check them in HPtuners to be sure you didn't modify the front 02 when you set the rears to not show a code.

To answer your original question - yes a tune would fix this. However, like others have stated, a tune is not necessarily required. The PCM looks for specific driving conditions. Only during these specific conditions does it actually test the O2 and move them to a "ready state". Most people can hit the conditions with a 20-30 minute drive. Others seem unable to hit it even after 6 months. The conditions include ambiant air temp, driving speed, cycles, etc. There are actually a total of 7 different systems that want to be set in "ready". The driving conditions/parameters have been posted here before - but for some reason I am able to get the search function to cooperate with me today. If you go the tune route instead - just keep in mind that a battery disconnect would normally would set everything back to "not ready" - so you can easily be discovered cheating by a shop that tests by disconnecting the battery.....although I have never seen anyone actually try to prove you are cheating by doing that.

I wish I did, b/c I could easy fallow the instructions you linked me to above

I thought that the relocated rear sensor does not heat up enough so it reports not ready. You can tune around this but the OBD system still reports the sensors condition for readiness.

Correct me if I have misunderstood this problem. This is what I was told and switched out my ARH system for the Z06 install.

I believe you are right.
But in texas we only have to have 1 of the 2 say "ready". so the Heat should always say "Not Ready" as long as there are no rear sensors. but the fronts should be good and ready

I am in the same position here in Houston. Failed inspection last week for no cats. Rear o2's are tuned out and no CEL's, I have a feeling this guy did a visual inspect on mine though. First of 3 cars with no cats that I have ever had this issue, need a solution fast! (without adding cats)

Wish that was my problem. I'd just go get a set of "Fat pipe" welded around the pipe where the cats would be.

Sounds like you need to find someone that knows a "FRIENDLY" inspector. Show him a nice new Fiddy $ bill.

yeah, I'm having my friend with HPtuners take a look at it tonight, and then Saturday I'm going in to a shop for a dyno tune plus ported intake manifold

If they were deleted they should show N/A for the rears, not "Not Ready". No need for a tune but it does not seem like they were deleted correctly. I have had mine deleted for years and never have an issue passing in Houston. I also am catless and have yet to have someone do a visual.
