Previous ower kept key fob
I just purchased I used 2009 Corvette. The previous owner kept the number 2 key fob. I purchased a new key fob from the dealership and reprogrammed it as the manual said. It worked with one exception. It put the new number 2 as number 3 so apprently the old number 2 is still in the system. How can I remove the old number 2, the new number 3 and put the new key fob as number 2?

You will need to do the "Long Fob Programming Procedure" which will wipe out all of the fobs and re-enter the ones you have. You can also take it to the dealer who can do this a lot faster with a Tech2

I've seen this so many times is just unreal. I tend to think its not the previous owners as much as I think its a dealer hanging onto the fob just in case they need to go retrieve the car easily. The dealers won't admit it of course. Its also possible that if the car went through an auction to the dealer, the auction location might have kept one. Who knows...but it seems that all used cars are missing a fob and not just Corvettes. I recently bought a BMW 745i and got only one fob with it.

Thank you very much. I followed your post exactly and all key fobs were removed and I was able to program both key fob 1 & 2 correctly and I didn't have to spend $65.00 at the dealer. Great post!
