Default C6 Automatic Transmission Filter Change

Asked in General Discussion. No luck there. Will try here.

Any one chaged out the A6 filter yet???? If you have how did you get the back 4 bolts out.

Thanks

I have all of my fluids changed out every 20,000 to 30,000 miles as well as the A6 filter. PM sent.

Thanks but that is just for fluid level check. I need to pull the pan off in order to change the filter. All the shop manual say is to remove 18 bolts. Can't get to the back 4 under the cradle.

In order to get to some of the bolts, I believe we removed the (4) nuts "see green" then we placed a brace "see blue" and raised the trans a little.

That is correct on removing the 4 nuts. 2 on each side. Then raise the trans. From start to finsh took about 2 hours. Just finished.

He noted that the area circled in green was what was needed to raise the trans (man or auto). It was a multi-function photo.

The pic is not perfect, but it will work for a quick reference. We have replaced my 07 A6 filter many times before "every 20,000 to 30,000 miles" which has well over 120,000 miles on it. For those that wish to do the drain, drop pan, clean pan, replace filter, install pan, & refill; I would recommend you drain and refill the diff at the same time.

I could snap a pic of my transmission and it would look identical to this. Man what a pain in the butt this project is. Exhaust torn apart, rear suspension bolts removed yadda yadda. Thankfully I have a hoist. I cannot imagine doing this on jack stands. I should have just took it to the stealership but I am too stupid and stubborn.
