Default Ls2 to +/- 500whp

Hey guys Im in need of suggestions here.

My cousin is putting a ls2 into his 69 Camaro and while the motor is out we want to make all modifications we can to get to the goal of 500whp. The car is only a weekend driver and will have a 6spd MN tranny. My question to everyone is, is this possible with the following:

Heads
Cam
Ported FAST
Headers
Intake
Tune

Is there any recommendations on heads/cams to use for this project?

Thanks for the help.

Lots of info on this site if you do some research. Start with Taken19's thread about his LS2.

You'll need a pretty aggressive heads/cam combo to hit 500rwhp, but it can certainly be done, especially if you bump compression a bit.

Thanks, will read through. LS2 gets picked up today, so we are going to start to assemble to pieces shortly.

Not really. There are lots of workable combinations. I know trickflow heads have a few cars past 500rwhp and I think RPM has a 500+rwhp car on well-ported LS2 heads. As far as cam I'd think you'd need something at least in the mid-high 230 duration range.

The easiest/cheapest way to do it would be to just put a blower on the car.

The blower will also get you WAY more than 500rwhp.

There is also plenty of room to have a friend of ours build a custom turbo set up on it..

Many cars over 500 rear wheel with the trick flow 225s, FAST 102, and the G6X3 cam. Probably could get it done with a slightly smaller cam, but that cam would definitely get you to your goal.

The AFR215V2s or 230V2s are a good head option also. They come in a little cheaper because you don't have to buy new rockers.

If I had it to do all over again. I would have spent my heads/cam/intake money on headers and a blower and been done.

Good luck sounds like a fun build.

I got 508 RWHP with similar mods.

I used CNC LS3 heads becasue I was getting a new intake any way.
