Default Lets talk clutch options for a juiced ls3...

I will be installing my nitrous kit soon and plan on running a 100-150shot. I have a full exhaust, intake and tune at 420rwhp and 420rwtq. The stock clutch has been fine at this level, but what about on the nitrous?

How will the clutch be used you ask....

no track time or hard launches. The nitrous will be used on the street and activated in second gear 3k and above. When I do run the car, I row the gears very fast(no powershifting though). I will more than likely use the nitrous a few times a week, so the car is going to see the power a good bit.

My questions are...

will the stock clutch last me a while on a 100 shot, or will she be toast in a short amount of time?

If it won't last long, what clutch do you all recommend?

What I am looking for in a clutch.

I want a lightweight flywheel and something that can take around 700rwtq. I really don't see the need to go with a twin disk, as I will more than likely not even see 700rwtq. I also want very little, if any chatter.

I had a spec 3+ in my 04 cobra, and loved it. I see many options for the c6, but no real winner.

Lastly,

what do you guys think is a fair price for install. I understand this is a complex job, but 1k in labor seems crazy. My local shop charges $85 and hour, but wondered what the book says on clutch install time.

o and yes, I used the search feature, but it returned 90% advertisements.

Thanks everyone

Mike

^ I'm not to worried about the hp. It's the tq from the nitrous.

you only make 430tq....on the hit of nitrous I will make around 550...

the monster does seem to be a good option.

Without hard slipping launches, the stock clutch should hold up for a while. We have many 6-700rwhp cars that have had the stock clutch in it for years now. The final answer is really up to the driver.

If or when your ready, we have been using the Mantic line of clutches with really good success. The single would hold up fine with the nitrous, but the twin would be the best option.

Do some research on the Monster Stage III. I have read a few cases with customers that complain of really bad chatter with it.

I believe the install time for a clutch is 10 to 11 hours. Yes, around $1,000 labor is about right.
