Default Header questions

Two questions:

1. If I am not planning on putting cams in, etc and just stick w bolt on mods to my 05 ls2, then should I stick w 1 3/4 headers vs 1 7/8 or does it matter?

2. Bang for buck I can get OBX headers w x pipe and cats installed for $1000.... Lg, kooks, amr equivalent will cost $1300-1600 plus install. So....are the OBX good enough? I'll probably save a $1000 w them

Thoughts?

Thx

you will find mixed reviews of them, imo if your not looking for max power or to set records then you will be pleased with them..

If I was buying new headers, I'd get obx. I found a killer deal on kooks headers with an install, and I just couldn't pass it up.

I'm with 1 3/4" American Racing Headers.. could I have gone 1 7/8", sure, but its negligible. PowerLabs did back to back testing on the swap and the gains were 0.7%, and as he put it was less than the accuracy of the dyno machine itself. I think he was about 575rwhp at that time IIRC.

OBX 1 7/8 + FAST 102 = more power and nearly same $ for just the "Name Brand" headers.

I'll have to disagree with that.

The headers work great. I love mine and the $800 savings is well worth it. The fit great with no issues.

Thats what i did, obx 1 7/8 and ported fast 102, total was $690 obx shipped and $990 ported fast shipped, total lil under $1700, same price for name brand and much mor power, I have had no issues with my obx and my builder and tuner were impressed with how they fit, look and perform. I say save your money on headers dont pay for names and no short cuts on any other mods. Like others said its a lot of post on this so search, you will find more than enough debates and a lot of different opinions. Good Luck

I have pics of mine on my profile if your curious

OBX or Texas Speed Longtubes are what I'd look at right now.

1 3/4 street series are for you. 1 3/4 are perfect for just bolt ons. No need to step up to 1 7/8.

These also carry a lifetime warranty

30+ years of racing experience built into each header.

The LG streets fit perfect in my wifes 05 and definitely gave it some pep
well worth it, especially for that low end torque

Some things just really don't need warranties. Headers are one of those things, in my opinion.
