Default Royal Purple or Red Line

It's time to change the tranny & differential fluid. I have heard great things about both purple and red line products. Does anyone have any insight on things to be aware of? Red line tranny fluid doesn't really specify if it is for use in the vette tranny, royal purple does. Red line seems to have the better choice for diff fluids, Any input would be appreciated.

Red Line.
I also like Amsoil products.

A few years old now, but a good read:
AMSOIL Gear Lube “White Paper” (2 MB pdf file)

Of your two choices, I'd go with the Red Line.

The AMSOIL options for your C6:
Tranny:
AMSOIL Torque-Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid (Product Code ATD1G)
(Same fluid I use in my 02 Z06 at the track)
Diff:
AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90 (Product Code SVGQT)
AMSOIL Slip-Lock Differential Additive (Product Code ADATB)
The Severe Gear 75w90 comes with friction modifier and I run that fluid in my 02 Z06 at the track without extra additive and have no diff chatter, but the C6 diff behaves differently and for the C6 most use some of the Slip Lock additive to ensure the diff doesn't chatter.

Redline in the trans made more of an improvement than the MGW shifter.

Never had diff clutch problem since I started using Redline.

Plus, Tim the owner of Redline drives a Corvette!

I doubt you could go wrong with either.

I'm about to drain my coolant to replace with 100% water and Redline's Water Wetter.

You can buy Redline products at Autozone

Never had a problem with the factory fill in the differential on my 09 Z06, so it's still in the car at 4 years and 16,000 miles. When new, the car had the first to second gear nibbles, so I drained the factory transmission fill and replaced with RP. It made the nibbles worse. I then drained the RP and filled with Mobil1 ATF III. The nibbles returned back to about the same as the factory fill, maybe a little better. I wasted a bunch of money.

I've tried aftermarket synthetic tranny oil: Red line in one truck and RP in two cars, and went back to factory fill on all three occasions b/c it worked better; never again.

To the person who wanted to know where we buy our Red Line products, the company is RPW which is Racer Parts Wholesale.

i try to avoid royal purple at all cost. i do have a c5 not a c6 however. might be a good product but in my experience it beaks down WAY too quickly! i always have heard its the best, but far from it. i'd rather put the factory mob1 stuff in before royal purple. i have heard great things about redline and or amsoil. my diff is apart right now so when it gets buttoned up, amsoil is gonna be the choice of fill for all my fluids

You will get a hundred different answers and no one is better than the other. Just preference. One trans builder I talked to who routinely builds Tremec transmissions said that he just uses factory GM fluid. I have never heard of a failure or a gain in HP from one trans fluid to another lol. With that said I ran Royal Purple in both my tranny and diff and had no problems. I couldn't tell a difference with the diff but the tranny seemed to shift a bit smoother.

I too didn't notice anything negative, but drop your fluid and check to see how black it is. Breaks down too fast

I did in fact drain all of the fluid before I sold the trans and diff and they were as purple as when they went in

I agree the more power and abuse, the faster oil will break down. I personally change the diff and tranny fluid about once a year.
