Best mod for return on $$ - Dyno overlay - stock, + headers, + cam, + FAST, + Heads

But, the original point is well taken......seat time is mandatory to get any high horsepower manual 6 speed car down the track.
I have no doubt in my mind that I could now take a completely bone stock C6 Z06 off the showroom floor, go to the track, and rip 11 second 1/4 times.
My best time on a fully treaded, non-comp R street tire is 11.3.....on MPSC's it dropped to 11.1's.....DR's were needed for the 10.92
Most of my speed at the track has come by way of the "driver mod" .

Justin, you are correct on the fast list sections. I never had a chance to run bone stock on stock tires, as my GY's were toast by the time I got to running at the track. Plus, I wasn't going to let HOXXOH run his modded LS3/A6 car on drag radials and me on Invo's in our first head-to-head run

After that single run, my clutch was a smoking mess.....I was done for the night
But as you and Joe can attest.....getting a manual car down the track is all about driver skill.

From the fateful night back in October , 2009 when our head-to-head run was performed, I've dropped almost a full second from the ET and tacked on 4 MPH. The only thing that's changed is I now have a MF103 CAI, a ZR1 exhaust (no HP change), and a better drag radial combo. Everything else came from pure seat time and driver skill

My first day with the new cam got me an 11.5@124 on 10/22 at 9pm
It took me another 2 months to finally get my 10.9 pass.
Since then, I've gone almost knocked another full second off the ET and gained almost 5mph. Seat time 4tw

And I remember when you had one of your first post wondering where your RWHP dissappeared too because your ET and MPH weren't meeting your expectations as compared to your dyno charts

Me and HOXXOH used to have this conversation when I first joined our local Corvette board. On Invo's, no track prep, and very limited seat time, it was a difficult car to get down the track. I then borrowed a pair of 28+" diameter drag radials (my clutched HATED them ), lined up with HOXXOH on our very first head to head run, I took the win and hung an 11.8@125 MPH on him, even with a crappy 1.99 60'.
I took care of the "I still have never seen a stock 11 second Z06" comment right there and then.
It's been on ever since
Awesome info and thread, Joe !!!

Justin bailed on us (rightfully so) so he's our guinea pig for our inevitable (?) clutch replacement.

I remember that Victor.
I still think my mph is low for the supposed 517whp I'm putting down, but we'll see. I'll worry about that this next winter. 10.67@129 is a decent slip for my little base model. My goal with the cam was to go 10.xx@13x so I'm almost there.
Joe, sorry for the hijack

Oh and I agree with you guys and I should add....
the #1 mod without question with the highest bang for the buck =
SEAT TIME.
I'll edit my first post.

Lol Joe, I didn't have much choice. My clutch was no longer reliable and I race too often to not have a reliable unit in place.

Oh, and my 1 year anniversary is coming up for the purchase of my car and I took it to the track exactly 2 weeks later. (Purchase 5/7, track 5/21)
I plan on heading back to the track for some shakedown passes with this new clutch to see how it does with a years worth of mods later

Great chart but you forgot a couple of very important "free" mods
1.) The best mod of all the driver mod. You take it for granted but you just happen to be a gifted shifter. Seat time is important, like any other sport you get better with practice. While we all think that we are pretty good drivers you can always learn from others, driving is an acquired skill.
2.) The weight mod Take everything out of the car and only travel with what you need. For those of us a bit over weight a diet makes the car faster.
3.) Know you car. There are optimum temperatures for coolant, oil and trans fluid. The correct tire pressure can be the difference between spinning and hooking.
Some of you may have seen the above short list before. I can not stress the importance of taking care of the little details as well as careful planning of modifications.

It'll be interesting to see what the Katech clutch package does for my ET and MPH, as I'm thinking it'll give me an ability to go more aggressive on the launch and the lighter flywheel/clutch will allow the engine to accelerate thru the RPM's faster

I saw your thread on your clutch delima but didn't chime in as I don't have any real world experience with the LS9 unit yet.
I'm not interested in the rattling that most high clamping aftermarket units have, or the on/off clutch engagement.
