Default Replacing one rear tire

I have a sidewall bubble in one of my rear tires with less than 2200 miles on it. Just came from Goodyear and of course it has to be replaced. With that little bit of wear, should I be at all concerned with added wear to my differential from one tire being slightly taller than the other? I will compare the tread depths once I have the new tire but I expect them to be nearly the same. The mileage is all easy street miles, no track days, autocross, or burnouts. What do you all think? 2 tires is cheaper than a burned up posi.

Based on you description, I'd buy one.

Audi says 4/32 thread wear difference and Subaru says 2/32 or less iis OK to change one tire (on their all wheel drive models). Perhaps ask forum sponser Tire Rack to confirm for a Vette.

I have been driving vehicles with Posi's since 1965 and have never burned up a posi due to a small difference in tire diameters due to wear. You can get significant differences in wear from side to side on a car even if both tires start as new at the same time.

I'd put the new one on the left side, which I believe is directly connected to the differential (please correct me if I'm wrong), and therefore subjected to a little more wear. The posi side only gets traction if the left one starts slipping.

I had to replace mine but with only 200 miles on the clock, that wasn't an issue at all. And it happened to be the left one. Good luck.

I replaced one Goodyear Supercar on the rear when the other had about 1000+ miles. No problem. Do it.

I'd just replace one.

Well, I looked up the tread depth of a new tire and it's 9/32". I measured mine with a dial caliper and it varies from 7.5/32" to 8/32" so it's not worn very much at all. I'll see what they say about the tire on Monday when it comes in. They had to order it and won't know if it's a defect or road damage until they take it off. According to the guy I spoke to today if it's a defect there will be nothing visible inside. If there is a split then it's road damage from hitting a pothole (which has never happened not to mention no damage to the wheel and no damage to the front which would of hit said pothole first). Let's see how much they try to jerk me around.
