Oil temperature gauge fluctuates
My oil temperature gauge tends to fluctuate between 210 degrees and 225 degrees during normal driving conditions. Is this normal?

I had erratic fluctuations like that after getting car back from a shop. It was fixed when it went back to the shop for other things. I was told they cleaned the connector for the oil temp sensor and/or replaced the sensor, so I would try cleaning the connection first. Not sure where it's located, I see something on driver side of the block, but not sure if that's the sensor. I'm sure others can chime in to help you locate it.

The sensor is located above the oil filter. I doubt anything is wrong with yours. Oil temp will fluctuate up and down with rpm and/or power level. It isn't controlled by a thermostat so will move around more. If I drive at 60 mph in 4th gear the oil temp will be higher than if I drive at 60 in 5th gear even though the car is producing almost the same amount of power.

Thanks for the info both of you guys. But what is weird is that the oil temp tends to only rise when the car is operated at a slow speed. Anywhere from 0-50 mph. Even just left sitting run for about 20 mins it still rises to 225 degrees. Hope its not anything serious.
