Default Need advice on a catch can for my '12 LS3 dry sump.

Gents, I've researched catch cans & after seeing the pool of oil in my intake, it's time to buy.

Who makes the best catch can in terms of function, quality, clean install, & decent instructions?

My '12 GS LS3 is dry-sump, so I assume I'll need the LS7 application.

I can see many opinions coming your way! I just installed an Elite Engineering can on my new Z. It looks like a quality piece; now I will see if it works.

I've had Elite Engineering catch cans on both of my motors (LS2 and LS3 dry sump) and can't complain one bit. The LS3 application comes with a spacer that I never used. I can send it to you if you want.

I installed the EE in both my LS1 and LS2. But found the best catch can on the AMW. It's a hair more expensive than EE, but it has a much greater distance from the ports inside, making it more efficient. Plus it's the only one in the market with inner rings inside the can, preventing oil from riding up the can with strong vacuum. I think EE is the 2nd best. Besides, AMW is the only one that fits where I wanted it, plus the bracket looks OEM, due to a hidden bolt. It was a royal PITA to install, due to about 1mm of clearance on each side (from airbag sensor and hood hinge), but suceeded after careful prep work. Very hard to drill. And best of all, didn't have to get rid of the ugly Helmholtz intake chamber, which is there for a reason. My can is all but invisible, unless you're looking for it. Second photo is without a flash, closer to what it looks. I found a flexible plastic reservoir that I can easily slip down and drain the can. Good luck.

OP, every can currently available has its flaws, but IMO, having one is better than none.

Here is my example of doing what I could with what I have:

Great info gents & many thanks.

Looks like it's EE, as I have the LS7 airbridge & I prefer how the bottom unscrews for easy emptying...seems a bit cleaner than using a drain hose, albeit perhaps not as effective as AMW, etc.
