Default To mill or not to mill..that is the ???

Current setup car:

C6 LS3 *Base
Headers (1 7/8) / Intake / Exhaust

I am going with a very aggressive cam setup for the car. My builder has offered to mill my heads a bit. They said it would prolly be worth about 20whp...and it will bump up my compression a bit....

Thoughts ? ....

It's a pretty cheap mod but will actually bump your compression, not lower it.

I faced that same question when I had my new motor built recently. I opted against milling the heads so I could go with a bigger cam without flycutting. Runs like a scalded dog so im happy.

I ran almost that exact same came and had my AFR215s milled down to 61cc. Car made 505 to the tires H/C/I. We ended up having to fly cut. If you ever think you'll do forced induction then do not mill the heads. If you will always be NA then do it.

why is milled heads/bumped compression bad for forced induction? just curious....?

Milling decreases the size of the combustion chamber, creating more compression, forced induction crams more air/fuel into the combustion chamber causing even more compression, at some point it goes boom.
