Default Rear O2 sensor question/ header installation

So Im installing my LG headers w/hi flo cats. I am Not going to use the rear o2 sensors, just connecting the front ones. I was able to disconnect the drivers side rear o2 sensor but cant get to/reach the passenger o2 connector to unhook it. does this sensor need to be physically disconnected or can the TUNER just disable the rears alltogether? Was thinking of maybe cutting it off to avoid it clanging around if possible?

They can be turned off in the tune.

They can be turned off but they still require to be physically connected. I just installed headers on mine and even when they werw turned off in the tune I got codes because I didn't have extensions to connect the rear sensors.

Huh. That wasn't my case and the tuner told me once I connect them it'll go away and it did.

Default Rear O 2's

The tuners can do either: 1. O 2's connected and turned off. 2. O 2's disconnected and removed (requires more ECM programing and a smarter tuner). I have had both things done on various Corvettes.

Very interesting, was hoping I didnt have to connect "rear" o2's. The passenger side rear is very hard to reach. Up behind eng/bellhousing with zip ties to wire harness. looks like a beach to get disconnected and add ext wire if I had to.

These harnesses get blasted with heat and get a little crispy - with headers they will melt, best to remove them.
Guess how I found that out

Not true! Find a new tuner.

The connection can be reached after removing the exhaust manifold and cat on the passenger side before you install the passenger side header. I removed the rear O2 sensor before removing the cat, let it dangle, took out the manifold and cat and then disconnected it from the harness. Install the extension to the harness before you install the header.
