Default Tire/wheel reduction

I have a 2011 GS with 19/10 front wheels and 20/12 rears. I was looking for new wheels and tires and i'm finding that 20/12 wheels just do not exist other than OEM's. Tires that size are crazy priced as well. I can live with the price of the tires but with having zero options for wheels is beginning to make me consider a smaller wheel. What size wheel is the most appropriate for the 19/10-20/12 setup? Need tires and wheels for true wide body GS. Any thoughts. Do all GS or Z06 owners run 19/10's and 20/12's? Any variances?

GS/Z06 wheels are 18/19.

ZR1 wheels are 19/20.

You have non stock 19/20's now?

my tires are 275/35ZR 18 front-325/30ZR19's rear are they not stock as well. I bought the car with 3,600 miles on it. Not sure why the previous owner would have switched the wheels. What tires are stock with a Z06/GS? This really helps, thanks

I was just trying to clarify what you have because you said

I have a 2011 GS with 19/10 front wheels and 20/12 rears
which are ZR1 sizes.

So now you're confirming that you do in fact have the stock 18/19 sizes.

my tires are 275/35ZR 18 front-325/30ZR19's rear

So the question is, you said you've been shopping 20" wheels that are limited?

i'm finding that 20/12 wheels just do not exist

If you've been shopping 20" wheels that's wrong, you need to go back and shop 19" rear wheels and 18" front wheels. Right?

Or am I missing something else?

the wheels i currently have are 19/10 front--20/12 rear with p275/35 ZR18 tires in front and p325/30 ZR19 on the rear. I was looking to buy some Z06 spider or 327 centennial wheels. Could not find anything in 19/10--20/12 but with your post I realized the previous owner must have changed out the stock rims wheels for the 20/12--19/10's. So now that I know I can look for 18/9.5 and 19/12 wheels what tires would I buy instead of the ones that are currently on there.

I appreciate your help, it could save me money on new wheels and tires.

ps your not missing anything, your spot on. So biggest tires or next size down for my GS?

You are missing the fact that 19" tires will not fit a 18" wheel and a 20" tire will not fit a 19" wheel.

It's impossible that you have 19" front wheels fitted with 18" tires and 20" rear wheel fitted with 19" tires.

If you have 18" tires on the front then you have 18" wheels on the front and if you have 19" tires on the rear then you have 19" wheels on the rear.

This doesn't make sense. You're claiming to have 18-inch tires mounted on 19-inch wheels and 19-inch tires mounted on 20-inch wheels. I think you should double-check everything and post again.

You're still not matching up.

wheels i currently have are 19/10 front--20/12 rear
You're saying the front wheels are 19", the rear wheels are 20".

BUT you then say

with p275/35 ZR18 tires in front and p325/30 ZR19 on the rear
you have 18" front tires and 19" rear tires.

That doesn't work, you can't have 18" front tires on 19" front wheels and you can't have 19" rear tires on 20" rear wheels.

The wheels are the same diameter as the tires, 18" front, 19" rear.....which are the stock diameters that come with the GS and Z06. That is what you should be looking for, an 18/19 setup.......not 19/20 setup......unless.......you are intending to move UP to ZR1 sizes which does limit your choices as you've already discovered.

just measured the wheels, from the outer rim to outer rim from top to bottom is 19.5 in the front and 20 in the rear. Should i be measuring from the inside of the rim. I'm confused at this point. the tire size is straight off the tires. I've had three vettes and sold them before I ever needed tires and moved on. 1st time I've been in the market, thus the confusion.

Just drive to your local tire shop and have them check your tire and rim sizes... What was stated earlier is true... cant mount smaller tire on bigger rims...

What are you confused about - you have 18" front wheels and 19" rear wheels, as the sidewalls of the tires on said wheels indicate. That's it - END OF STORY.

Is this a goof thread or legit?

Why would you need tires after only 3600mi? The sizes you mentioned are STOCK sizes for your GS, btw.

Don't go by your tape. Go by the nominal size marked on the tires. If they're mounted on the wheels, _that's_ the size you've got, full stop.

Sounds like you have stock wheels and tires. You have lots of options.

Yup, if the tire is on the wheel, then the tire sidewall will tell you the wheel diameter. You have stock 18/19 sized wheels.

Best to stick with the same stock sized tires that you have now...the traction control computer can have problems if the tire sizes are changed too much.
