Default turning airinntake on LS7?

Hi i just wonder if someone could help me out with a strange case
a friend of mine is mounting a LS7 engine into a De Tomaso Pantera, but since the space is very limited and the airinntake will originally be inside the coupe of the vehicle, his question is if it is possible to turn around the airinntake 180 degress on the engine so he could have the airfilter and the mas airflow housing facing backwords into the engine compartment would really apreciate if someone have any experience with this issue

It's not ram air so the intake can face any direction you want.

This 'friend" is doing an engine swap into a Pantera?

I believe he is asking if the intake manifold, not the air breather, can be rotated 180* so that the air breather and MAF is at the rear of the engine.

I've never heard of anyone doing it, but since the heads are the same, just reversed, it would seem that flipping the intake manifold around, the ports and the mounting bolts would still line up. Might have a clearance problem with the oil pressure sensor, but that should be a minor problem.

Hi sorry for not beeing clear yes it is correct it is intake manifoild i mean, the oil pressure sensore isnt a problem since it can be moved down to the oilfilter housing

Yes, it can be turned 180* and Katech has a kit for the oil sender that gets it out of the way.

Gearz on Speed did it on a kit car they built. It worked fine.

Schwartz Performance in a Northern suburb of Chicago then put twin turbos on it.

Here is a link. http://staceydavid.com/projects/sl-c

Yes, that is the way it mounts when you use the LS engine in the factory 5 kit car.

Wow...what a great project. The Pantera was a great car and the LS7 would be a really big upgrade to the 351 Cleveland.
