Cut Outs on a GS A6 -can be done
I had cutouts on my 2004, loved them. Quiet when I wanted it to be, and a rumble when I wanted it. Problem with the 2012 GS A 6, no place to put them. BTW - not taking credit for this idea, another forum member had put together a thread on this mod, I just tried it.
I couldn't seem to connect with DMH to buy the ones he used, and the warranty was only 90 days so I went with HPE units with the 4 year warranty.
Basically you cut a 2.5" hole in your stock muffler (a real PITA without the proper metal hole saw as this is a double wall stainless system). I bought the cutouts with stainless straight adaptors and cut two down to about 3/4" and welded them on. Make sure you line everything up because it's a tight fit and you don't want a mistake. Welded on some stainless steel bolts because you won't have room to get a wrench back behind there. I took two more adaptors, and cut them at an angle to direct the exhaust downward to clear the back of the car. Bolt them up, wire them up, and voila!, the ability to have a bit more rumble when you want it. It's not excessively loud, some may want it louder, but I like it. No bad drone at the 1500 to 1800 range even open. I wired them up through the bumper, drilled a hole in the back deck, under the carpet and placed the switch in the console. Power came from the passenger floorboard on a switched circuit. Paint them flat high temp black, and you can hardly even see them as shown by the last pic.

I couldn't find a way to fit it without compromising ground clearance. This method seemed like a decent compromise, plus I don't have to smell exhaust fumes.

Thanks, worked out well.
Speed raider, i researched that one, it's a M6. The autos don't have that room. I would have loved to do it that way.

yep, found that one too. I liked that approach but it looked like a lot of work to make that fit on my car, including some mandrel work which I didn't have the equipment for. I had to have my son weld them up as I didn't even have a welder. THANKS MIKE!
