Default shocks

I have a 2006 with magnetic suspension. Just got mu harmonic balancer problem fixed and noticed all 4 of my shocks are leaking fluid. OEM shocks are very expensive. Can I use normal shocks?? If so what are pro's and con's. What are some good shocks that don't cost an arm and leg??

It would be very unusual for 4 independent parts to go bad at the same time.

Sure, they could have developed the problem earlier, but I'd do some checking first.
Seems like I've seen threads similar to yours and the shocks turned out to be ok.

It is expensive due to the higher end Magnetic Ride components. Normal Corvette shocks are not that expensive.

Did you buy it new? If not, you know why the last guy sold it.

As Jim said, it's very unlikely that all four mag shocks would be bad at this point. If a mechanic or the dealer told you this then I'd be very suspicious of their motivations since they stand to make a nice chunk o' change off of replacing them.

Yes, you can change the F55 shocks out for "normal" shocks but it's not a straight forward process since the car's computers are involved with the way yours works now.

I'd start from the premise that the current shocks are OK. Get under there and wipe them *clean* and then go on with life for a month or two. Then take a look again to see if they are actually leaking or just dirty for normal (or even other abnormal) reasons. If they are leaking then you can decide how you want to deal with it.

^^^ I agree unless you trust your mechanic giving you the assessment. Not a cheap replacement at all four corners and it does sound suspicious. But then maybe it was the reason for steeling the car. yikes....
