Default SC8220 Tire pressure sensor issue

Hello guys, I'm very frustrated with trying to reprogram these SC8220 sensors to my 07 C6. I just got them in the other day. I had a tire shop to break the wheel bead and install the sensors. I took the car to discount tire for them to program the sensors but they cannot get the sensors to respond to the tool. They shut the car off, place it in the ACC position and then hold the lock/unlock button simultaneously. The car does honk once but when they place the tool next to the tire, it will show the part number of the sensor but it will show an X on the tool. It show X's on all four wheels. Its like the sensors are not activating or in sleep mode. Were we suppose to program these things before we put them in? Please help!

You aren't the only one with problems. Check this discussion to make sure you've done everything right. Good luck.

I have had multiple tpms tools to trigger it, and they have been tested on GM original ones and trigger fine. But when trying to trigger the orange electronic sc8220... nothing. I'm assuming its a defective set. Is there soemthing unique about the trigger tool you have?

Default sensors

You have a bad set! I told the seller on ebay that the manufacturer were sending out faulty sensors. Me and another customer who bought sensors from that seller the same week had the same issue with them. No technical support or anything from this company. They refunded me immediately. Discount tires tried everything to trigger them but nothing. A corvette specialist put the car in learn mode with his computer but nothing. Save yourself the time and gas and send them back. It's the sensors!

I replaced them with Dormans that basically look identical to them but they programmed immediately with no problems.

For more help directly from the mfg/dist.
email to: cwilliams@orangetpmsusa.com
or ladams@orangetpmsusa.com
or call 1-888-407-8767

They're located in a Cincinnati suburb.

I had the same problem a couple years ago and it was because an ebay/amazon seller had mis-marked stock that didn't match the frequency. They sent me their tool, but when that didn't work they sent me new sensors that they pre-programmed to match (clone) my OEM sensors in my spare wheel set.
Orange traced it to the seller via the sensor serial numbers I returned and supposedly swapped the seller for correct ones. Most likely the current problems stem from the same source.

I ordered another set from jegs and heres the scoop. Some work and some dont. There all labled sc8220, FCC: th9amc01 works fine. But the sc8220 that has the FCC: th9am315-1 all do not work. After buying total of 11 of them I sifted through the ones that worked and shipped remaining back. Hope this helps people in future if they get sc8220, make sure to test them before mounting if it says th9am315-1.

Orange Electronic Sensors NEED to be programmed with a TPMS tool BEFORE you install them. If you have the Orange Electronic OPSS Gen 2 tool you can either create a new ID into the sensor or simply copy the old ID and clone the sensor. Cloning the sensor does not require you to do a relearn on your vehicle. It see's the same ID and doesn't know it was changed. These cannot be programmed if installed first, the tool won't see them as you have found out. This is very useful if you use more than one set of wheels. I use these same sensors in my 2007 C6.

Default Programming

It's not the sensor, it's the lack of knowing they have to be programmed BEFORE you install them. It doesn't work after installation is done. I run these sensors in my 2007 C6 and know. You can't install them and expect them to work if the sensor info is still blank for programming. That's like clear coating your car first and expect to have the color be there on bare parts.

I bought a set of these also.Had Discount Tire install them with my new tires.Needless to say they couldn't make them work. Fortunately I kept the old sensors in the boxes the new ones came in,marked as to what wheel they came off of.Drove down about a mile to the next tire place and they made the new ones work and didn't even charge me.
They have been fine ever since and I feel they are a great sensor and the most inexpensive on the internet.
Hope you get yours working.
