Will WD-40 Harm Rubber?
Looking for a lube to help remove the stabbers from the rubber c6 muffler hangers when I change out the catback to an NPP.

spraying is ok on rubber, soaking is NOT ok.
WD-40 contains mineral spirits which will evaporate, but soaking will cause swelling and other damage.
generally folks just avoid WD-40 on rubber just to be safe.

I'd say don't use it till you get a reply from someone who knows. I have been told that wd40 is kerosine. I also have been told that kerosine is bad for rubber. Maybe google?

Yes. I posted same time. What I heard is twenty years ago. If I sounded like I'm not sure, it's because I'm not. I was just warning not to do it till someone knowledgable replies.

the shortened version of their answer was..
soaking rubber or rubber bushings in WD-40 would cause swelling. they did not recommend soaking. spraying will not affect the rubber what so ever.
generally the thought is just dont and be safe

WD-40 works great taking the hardened rubber off of your rear 1/4 panel from doing burnouts at the track. Spray and wipe off with a paper towel. No harm to the paint. Kind of off the subject but maybe not......
