Default 16" wheels

Is there any rear 16" wheel that will fit on the back of my car? I don't care what they look like as long as they will clear and handle the drag strip beating.

measure from the middle of your hub to the outside of the brake caliper. I doubt it. 17" may still be too small ?

From what I have read in a couple of for sale threads you can fit 16" wheels in the rear with base c5/c6 brakes.

I already run C5 ZO6 17x9.5 in the back for my drag rims. I want more sidewall, I want more traction. The 275/40-17 Hoosiers are not hooking up. I do not want to change out my magnetic ride control, I want to get a tires that sticks. If I can't find a 16" that will fit I will go with 315/35-17 on the back.

I have no problem taking a grinder to the rims or calipers if need be. Has anyone found a 16" rim that fits?

I just did the same search for my C5. I found some 16" camaro wheels and had to slightly grind a little of the ball joints. Took 5 minutes a side.

Curious what tire you plan on running with the 16? Your power, converter, and gearing may need a little wider tire with a bigger contact patch if prep isn't optimal.

315/35/17 Hoosiers on C5 Z06 front rims - I was cutting 1.376 60ft times with them back in February when the weather was cooler.

You were exactly who his combo made me think of, didn't know you made the switch to the 315s tho...what psi are you running? As they aren't really intended for a 9.5" rim and running too low will cause them to cup and reduce contact patch from my experience.

I changed to 315s over a year ago.

I run either 18.5 or 18.75 psi depending on track prep. They seem to hook just fine as you can see in the picture, despite only being on a 9.5" rim.

I've had my stupid engine in and out 5 times the last year due to a string of bad builds from two different machine shops.

Yes, but nothing official. The run shown was a 10.058@132.45MPH but that was with my heavier front tires, the passenger seat still in the car and a moderately conservative tune as I had only just put the motor in the car, not to the mention the fact I was at Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon) and they woulda bounced me outta there if I ran under 10.000.

I think the car had the potential to have easily beaten my prior best of 9.950 had I made a few changes and been allowed to run it all out.

Agreed, definitely has more potential! Last I remember the motor had let go...sorry to here of the rebuild troubles, did you make any changes?

I'm now running a Yank SS4000 converter (which replaced the SS3600 I had in there before) but the motor itself is pretty plain and boring - stock pistons, stock rods, stock crank, stock heads (that were milled .030), stock injectors, stock intake manifold and stock air intake. Except for the valve springs and Lucifer cam the motor is close to being stock.

Sub, I am all done screwing around! I want to dead hook the car and try my best to flip it over backwards. The " Hell Beetch" will break into the 9 second world this year on pump gas even if I have to strip the inside of the car and sit on a plastic bucket.

I briefly considered switching over to the LG drag spindles and/or trying to run either a 15" or 16" rim but after being able to cut the kind of 60ft times I've gotten with my current setup I figured why bother.

I really don't think you need to go to a smaller than 17" rim to hit the 9s given that I managed to do it when I still had 275/40/17 Hoosiers on the car and also could have done it back in February with the 315s even though I only ever launch the car at around 2000RPM.
