Default 2010 coupe check engine light on cause?

After driving my 2010 coupe foe 550 miles of highway driving on a trip the check engine light came on( the light with a picture of the engine block). This 2010 coupe has 18000 miles on it.
What is likely the cause and can I drive it this way for 300 more miles to my destination or do I have to fix it now.

If the light isn't flashing, it isn't a critical problem. But if it was me, I'd find an Autozone or similar store. They will read the codes for free. Once you know for sure what the problem is you can make a decision whether to continue.

You probably can continue with no harm done but again, I'd want to know the issue for sure first.

Turned out to be a bad gas cap read here and elsewhere about bad gas caps and the dreaded light.Would of taken the stealership all day to figure it out. OReilly auto parts had one for $13.00 bucks.

Was it a bad gas cap or just a loose cap? Tech 2 checks the system to determine if the fuel tank is pressurized so the Dealer mechanic could have verified that before replacing the cap. Once the code sets it takes a little while for it to reset.

Not a loose cap tried taking off and putting on the old cap several times and checking light still on. After new cap was put on only took 1 minute or so for light to go out.
