Default ZR1 boost gauge in 2005 ???

Any insight on how the boost gauge operates in the ZR1 cluster ?

I'd like to eliminate my Autometer gauge and use the factory ZR1 gauge instead.
I have an entire working ZR1 cluster. The only gauge that doesn't function right now is the boost gauge.

Does it see a value from the PCM/ECM or does it read from the MAP sensor ?

Any idea how to turn it on / make it work ?

I have no problem hacking into the harness or tracing wires.

But, It only reads to 15psi.
I am sure it works off of the MAP sensor, One that reads positive pressure. Should not be too hard to figure out and rewire.

Any chance it's a mechanical gauge? Look at the back of the gauge and see if there is a vacuum port as well as the wire for lights.

It's definitely electronic... as it has stepper motors like all the other gauges.

When I start the car, it does the normal sweep action... so there is at least power going to it already.

I 'sorta think it needs a signal from the computer however to work.

I'm 'gonna have to do some research.

I'm only running 12 psi... so it will work.

I know this is a old thread, but no one else talking about this subject, and I have searched...

does this work, if you have a 2-3 bar map installed in car? can you swap clusters and have the factory ZR1 boost gauge working?
