Default 2010 grand sport shroud mod?

I have searched and found no pics or vids of how to cut the shroud properly to avoid surging. Help please!

Why do you want to cut it? Unless you're putting in a CAI that needs it cut, just pin it back. That way you get a better effect--outside air coming straight in through the grill and angling up following the curve of the shroud rather than air mixing with the heat from the condenser/radiator. It's not a big temp diff, and both work, but if the coolest air is what you want it comes in from the grill directly to the filter, not the back of the shroud.

After finding some post I don't want to cut I just want to prop the bottom open but I can't get to it from the bottom of the car. I took the stock air intake out and I can't get to the two pins from the top either and I didn't want to tear the shroud up by trying to rip the plastic pins out.

What are we talking about here? What is this surging thing? My Grand Sport does not exhibit anything I would consider to be surging.

Matt
I think he means when I let fresh cold air into my intake and I smash down on the gas pedal the car surges forward.

You can get to the pins easily from under the car if you put it on ramps. Don't worry about deforming the shroud. If you wanted to put it back to stock, just put the push pins back in. If you break one getting it out, they cost about a buck at the Dealer. I ended up tearing the holes to get the shroud away from the pins and then took the pins out. If I wanted to return it to stock, I'd just put a washer over the pins to cover the larger hole I made. I did the same on my M-6 '06 and have had no problem with surging or anything else with either car. Just free, denser and much cooler air to the intake.

From your profile pic OP, it looks like you have a C7. This is the C6 tech forum, and there are quite a few differences between the C7 and C6 intake, just sayin....

edit - OP, I just looked at your profile, you need to start paying more attention!!! Get over to the C7 forum, haha !!!!

I usually check the date, because everyone is using their cell phones these days and they keep coughing up several year old threads........

It kills me that the mods can't automatically lock threads if they are over 6 months old, or something like that........

when I had the vararam installed they cut my shroud, if that`s what your referring to. I didn't have a problem with that at all.
