Manual trans. and diff. fluid change advice needed
I have a 2013 GS M6 and would like to change the trans and diff. fluids. For the Differential I was thinking of using Royal Purple 75/90 (I believe it calls for that weight) but don't know if it needs any additives or not. For the transmission I'd like some advice on what to use. Would like to put the best possible fluid in there. Any advice would be welcome, thanks

I have about 4,500 on the car and want to change it now. Then won't change it for probably 30,000 - 50,000 miles. Changed the engine oil at 700 miles then again at 3,700. I'm old fashion too, and the benefits are worth it. I've seen transmissions taken apart that have been treated like this and ones that have never had the fluid changed, believe me, there is a big difference.

The current GM differential fluid seems to be really good stuff, no additive required and lots of good reports. That's what came in our 2009, I changed it at ~10k miles and then at 50k with a sample sent to Blackstone Labs. They said both the fluid and the differential were in excellent condition and I could go longer next time.

When I had my Z06, I went to the new GM stuff for Trans and rear. Worked great and you know it's made for the car.

outside of a full blown race car, there is no need to change fluids before 30-50k. the factory stuff works great.
I tried BG products I got for free and they were worth every penny I paid -- garbage -- trans would not shift when cold and diff was noisy and bound up --
I run RP products & have run RL stuff in the past.

I first put Royal Purple in the tranny, big mistake. Very hard to shift after that. Installed the Ames Oil ATF and it's been great ever since. I also used the Ames Oil in the diff with a tube of their conditioner. No more ratcheting around sharp turns. Make sure if you go to the Ames Oil that you call one of their reps to get the right stuff. The applications can be confusing.

I changed all fluids at 9600 miles when I put the supercharger on my 2008ls3. I bought the car new in april 2008. Sent samples to Blackstone, engine was very good the tranny was also good,manual6,some metal but Blackstone said normal for tranny new.The rear-end fluids had more than normal metal. But said they see that on new factory builds. From putting it together. Had redline put in engine tranny, rearend. Made a big difference in shifting and jerky moves at crawling speeds in parking garages went away. Only put 1500 miles since then ,will drain rearend this spring and sent in sample just to make sure. Its good.DRM{Doug Rippie Motorsports} did the work and Redline oils really do work and worth the money.
