Adam,
I really like the Carbotech pads....XP10/8 combo for the track....and have been a big supporter for years. However, their pricing is nothing short of outrageous! ~$600 for a set of Z06 / GS padlets is nuts. Just out of curiosity I poked around their website and I was stunned to find that pads for cars such as the Aston Martin Vantage, Dodge Viper, and even the Audi R8 are cheaper!
Sorry, just have to gripe when I feel like my pocket is being picked.

How much are the factory pads, I believe $700 front and rear and that's not even a race compound.

I understand your gripe. Carbotech has to engineer those backing plates for the Zo6/GS. I personally had my ZO6 back in 08 on blocks for about a month while we took the caliper apart to design the 1 piece pad than we had to get a mold made so, all this cost money. Now the other MFG you noted share backing plates with other cars that are readily available and may share the same FMSI #.

Stock are around $600 for the padlets
Btw, even the C7 pads are cheaper!
I get there's the "pay for benefits" argument....kind of like me paying to live in LA because I like year round track days and nice weather
Development costs may have been $150k-$200k (which seems pretty high for a set of backing plates and molds), but that cost was recovered years ago and replacement molds are not that expensive.
My point is that Carbotech could [likely] really expand their market by knocking $75-$100 off a set of pads, even just the padlet version, and garner customer goodwill in the process. They make more money in volume and the re-sellers such as yourself make more as well. My opinion is that there are a lot of Hawk users that would try the Carbotechs if the price differential wasn't so great and once they try them, they'll be hooked.
Granted, some business owners don't want to grow too big or grow too fast, preferring to remain "boutique" manufacturers. High prices are one way to accomplish that.
