Default Will C5 wheels fit my C6?

Hi all,

I have an opportunity to purchace 2 C5 wheels with drag radials on them for very cheap. I don't know what size the tires are yet but do you think these will work on my C6? I'm assuming they are off the rear of the C5.
Thanks,

Marc

If they are C5 rear wheels they are 18" and will bolt on to your C6. The wheel is 1" smaller diameter and the offset is different but they will bolt on.

Tire size is important since it determines final diameter of the wheel.

Just because they'll fit on the car and they're cheap, doesn't mean it's a good deal. Check the tire brand and size and come back here with the info. I assume you want them for track use.

Also note what engine, trans, and mods you have.

The most common drag setup is the C5 front wheels with 275/40/17 drag radials. I've run that setup for 8 years now and it works great. I like Mickey Thompson tires, great traction and relatively long life.

27540R17 G-Force T/A Drag Radial. BF Goodrich of course.
The guy had them on his C6 for drag racing. Got 2 wheels and 2 tires for $40.00.
My C6 M6 Z51 has LG headers, VaraRam Cai and 160d thermostat.

That's so cheap if you only got 10 passes and threw them in the trash it'd still be a deal. So have some fun and use 'em up.
Post a pic of the wheels so we can determine if they're right for the next set of tires. Do you need to drive to the track (how far) with those tires or can you change them there?

The wheels are C5 fronts. The tires are pretty worn but are safe and have a few runs left.
I could change the tires but I'd rather drive them to the track. Track is about 25/30 miles away.

If those C5 fronts are from a Z06, then they are 9.5" wide and that's good. Since you prefer to drive to the track on the DR's, buy MT when you buy replacements. They're heavier, but most of that is on the tread, so they'll last longer.

Have fun.

Even the 8.5" regular c5 wheels work great with 275/40/17, that's what I ran for years. When I went to 315/35/17 I did go with the Z06 9.5's and those are also great.

All great (and accurate) info above. I too have used both (front C5 LS1 and C5 Z06 rims) on the back of my C6.
The only thing not mentioned is that the C5 wheels (especially the base LS1 front 17x8.5s) might not fit if you (or a previous owner) have swapped to larger brakes on the back of your C6, but I will assume that your brakes are still OEM/stock (the wheels do clear base, F55 and Z51 brakes).

Thanks for the input. Yes my brakes are stock. Getting excited. I haven't been on a drag strip in 15yrs or so.
Going tomorrow night weather permitting.
