Default Z06 Headers on LS2

So I have Z06 NPP Exhaust That i want to install on my LS2. I just came across a good Z06 Kooks Deal but am wondering if It will work on my ls2?

If so, I would just have the shop bend some pipes straight back to the NPP exhaust (No Cat) all 3 inches?

Will I have any Issues? Suggestions?

I have the Z06 Mufflers on my 2006 C6 using kooks headers. In order for this to work you need the Ls2 headers but need to use the Z06 midpipe. The LS2 midpipe has 3" at the header side and 2.5" at the muffler to connect to the regular muffler. The Z06 midpipe had 3" on both sides and will mate to the Z06 mufflers. See this thread I started for more info.

I just reread your post and if you want to use Z06 headers the answer is no you need the LS2 headers. You can use the Z06 mufflers provided you use the Z06 xpipe/midpipe with the LS2 headers.

If you have z06 mufflers the kooks setup will connect to it without any issue assuming it is actually a 3" system.

So a z06 header will fit perfectly to the LS2? Is there any adverse effects from mateing the Z06 Header to the LS2?

Yes, the z06 header will bolt right up to ls2 heads. No adverse affects.

You sure about that? Kooks has different part numbers for the Z06 (6602-EX) and non-Z06 headers (6601-EX). I know the Z06 midpipe/xpipe will connect to the non-Z06 headers as that is what I am running. The other end of the Z06 midpipe/xpipe connects to my Z06 mufflers.

Not sure what the difference in the part numbers would be because I don't have kooks headers, but it could be that the ls7 headers have D shaped ports and the ls2/ls3 headers have round (although the ports on the heads themselves are oval/Dshaped anyway), but I have read about people simply swapping xpipes so I can't imagine the overall shapes are different.

Check out the port shapes. People do these kinds of swaps all the time. The factory ls7 stuff hooks right up to ls2 and ls3 cars so why wouldn't the aftermarket?

zo6 6602-ex

base 6601-ex

The point I was trying to make is that z06 headers and midpipe will hook right up to z06 exhaust on any c6 so long as the over axle pipes fit around the transmission.

z06 headers and midpipe will not hook right up to base ls2 2.5" exhaust without modification or swaping the xpipe with one built for the base car.

Don't take my word as fact though I'm only working off what I have read here in the past (I've been researching because I'm putting a z06 header/midpipe/exhaust system on my ls3 car here soon); I would do your own research on the subject.

I have OBX Z06 1 7/8" headers and xpipe exiting out through z06 exhaust on my ls2. Everything bolted up fine. I know they aren't kooks but, but they should fit too.

I have kooks 1 7/8" Z06 headers, kooks catted x-pipe, and factory Z06 mufflers on my 2006 LS2. No problems.

The difference is the entry from the head. The ZO6 has a D shaped port and the LS2/3 has a round port. The question would be can you use the D shaped header on a round shaped head with out having any leaks? I am looking at putting ZO6 headers on my LS2 and want to know if i will have any issues?

You will need to use the Z06 gaskets. If you use the LS2 gaskets they will leak. Ask me how I know.
