Default Differential Cooler Retaining Ring

I have attempted, with no luck, to locate where you can get a replacement differential cooler retaining ring for when you change the diff fluid. Per GM Date: 01-09-2008 TSB: #07-04-20-002A Document ID# 2048181 "If equipped with a differential cooler: 4.1. Using a bent tip screwdriver, remove the quick connect fitting retaining ring (3) from the quick connect fitting (4) and discard the retaining ring... If equipped with a differential cooler: 2.1. Install a new retaining ring." Is this necessary and do I have to go through a dealership to get this part? Thanks

I got by using the old one one time. Couldn't sleep night thinking about it. I recommend using new. If the clip broke or released the fitting you have a big $ repair not covered by warranty.

When I had my C6Z, I always used new ones. I usually buy 2-3 clips, as they can get away from you. They should be called, "Clip from Hell"

This may be what you are looking for. Easier than going to the dealer.

So after all the time looking and calling trying to find this retaining clip my car doesn't have a diff cooler. I thought that it was standard on the Z51 package guess not. Fluid changed and feels a million times better. The trans fluid that was drained looked like old muddy water/old engine oil. Zero pink to it at all. Thanks for all the help with the clip. Definitely will help someone else in the future.

Great! The cooler is standard on European Z51's. I build my Quaife using the European Z51 case so I could install the cooler.

Thanks for this guys. My dealer had no idea what I was talking about and could not find this clip on his parts display.

Yea, I changed mine out yesterday. The clip locks the diff cooler line in place. The diff. cooler line simply snaps into the differential, then the clip locks it in place. Without the clip it just pulls out and the diff fluid drains from there. Seems like they could have put some kinda nut or something to secure it better, but I dont hear of it popping out so must work! By the way the diff. fluid stinks...
Did you do the figure 8's after?

They made it easy to assemble in the factory. My first C6 did not have the line pushed in all the way into the engine oil cooler and they ended up buying the car back because it screwed up so much stuff.
