Try the test yourself. I am sure that when you track your car without any mods the temp will go up quit a bit more than 26 degrees.
I ran at Thunderhill on Monday and had a friend's ZR1 do the meat thermometer cupholder test. Guess what - after a 30 minute session the temperature was 176 degrees.

Charles your the man when it comes to feedback on this thing. Love how you use the car for what it was built to do as well. Thanks once again for the report.

What year is your ZR1? Does it have 4 or 2 cats? I have a 2012 Z06 and I know that they added 2 additional pup cats in 2012 which will end up putting off more heat. Didn't know if the ZR1's exhaust changed as well.

I have a 2013 ZR1. Starting in 2012 I believe all California Corvettes are required to have 4 cats. The second set of cats exist is because of a change in emissions standards.

I did some research and found this explanation on another forum post.

"Why the extra cats?

The OBD2 system is required to predict failures of emissions controls devices. In order to have that ability for catalytic convertors, for a brief period during each ignition cycle, the ECM will command a very rich mixture then wait to see if the second set of O2s reacts. If they react the way the ECM expects, the system assumes cat monitoring is working.

The State of California decided the momentary increase in exhaust emissions which occurs during that test must be eliminated so, with the C6 GM decided to simply add two more cats, one per side, to catalyze the exhaust adequately during the short period the AFR goes rich".

Default Hot Console

I challenge you to find a better, cheaper, and easier item to install that provides all these things on the market.
Has anyone recorded the temperature of center console before the shield was installed then checked the temperature afterwards?

Not exactly a scientific report here but it stands to reason this solution will work well and be easy to install. It would be nice to see a photo of the install, but then again, who is ever going to see it?

The install is very easy and quick. It usually installs in about half an hour or less. We have full intentions on doing some install stuff if we ever get a chance to put our shop car back in the air.

Since everyone is discussing the relative merits of this blanket not to mention all the 'thanks for the orders' posts from the seller, I have to chime in. Really? Lots of orders? Whether it's 92 or 118 or 176 degrees, when does my console cool down? My driveline tunnel on my 06 vert is hot from my under dash area (right leg) all the way to the bottom of my trunk. The necessary insulation should have been applied under the car before the exhaust was installed from the firewall to the taillights. I cant believe this blanket or any other aftermarket 'fix' is worth the money being asked for. There is also, despite the less than a handful of high temp readings with meat thermometers, no definitive temp reductions being touted by the sellers or anyone else. $300?

Terry - Some of blanket owners have already chimed in with their positive feedback. We are not saying that it fixes all heat, but it shows a measured improvement in heat reduction where most people think it matters the most. The people who tried it seem to be happy, and that is what matters. We appreciate your feedback.
