Default A6 06 LS2 adding cam

Hey guys,

I am kind of looking around and wanting to go with AR Headers for my 'vette. I am finding myself looking for cams and searching around. I've noticed that since I am an A6 I would need to do a converter upgrade also but do not have the funds for that currently. So I plan on keeping my stock converter. What cam could I go from and where do you recommend me to purchase one if I do so.
If anyone has any videos to include that would be great. I plan on rolling start races more than digs.
Thanks

Since your in San Diego, give Cunningham Motorsports a call. Ryne can help you out with cam specs. CMS is second to none when it comes to LS engines. My LS2 Cam only car put down 463 with his cam. Jay

LPE GT11 - I just got mine done and it drives like stock. Be warned that this cam does NOT provide audible lobe. It is very much a sleeper cam, exactly what I was going for.

Spinmonster is corvette forum's cam guru. I went with his spinmonster cam.612/598 lift, 230/234 114+2 LSA. It is definitely not a sleeper cam, people will know the cam ain't stock. It's good for 50rwhp, idles at 750rpm. Short vid of my car idling in park. It's an A6 with a circle d stall.

What king of power did it make? Ls2 or ls3?

LS2

I was upgrading a VMAX Intake Manifold to a fast 102 at the same time.

45hp total on peak. (peak moved from 355 to 400rwhp, using 61lb tire/wheel set-up) I am guessing the Fast 102 added about 12 to 17 and the Cam added 28 to 33.

The Cam is good for about 25 to 30 (you will get the same claim from LPE, its dead on). Other cams, more aggressive, could net up to 50 but you sacrifice driveability.

I had other complimenting mods such as a VMAX ported TB, kooks 1-3/4 headers, HF cats, Borla Touring.

Next Mod will either be LPE Heads and/or 3.15 gears

Check out this graph so you can see exactly where my set-up made more Hp and TQ when comparing old power band to new power band - Don't get hung up on peak, that is the biggest mistake.

RPM TQ Gains HP Gains

Thanks for the replies guys,
I know have an intake, ar headers 1 7/8, ported throttle body and a tune.
How does a 224/228 114 cam sound compared to 228/228 cam and how do they run on a daily driver?
I am more of a rolling start guy mainly on second and so i'd like my cam to work with that power range if that make sense.

What most people didnt realize is you're trying to keep the stock converter for now. We Can set you up with a Custom Grind Camshaft package with a camshaft spec'd for your combination. Whether you want to keep the stock converter or use an aftermarket one, we can tailor a cam package to your needs specifically.

Call me and we can talk about your goals.

The only problem that I am not sure what's good and what isn't, what's safe and what is not...
I do not want a sleeper cam and I am more into the rolling start races.

OP - you sound like me so let me say it first: GO BIG OR GO HOME!

You will not be happy with a sleeper cam or any type of mild setup. I installed the Comp Cams 54-454-11 (with my stock stall) and it's not radical enough. I'm going bigger next spring.

Send us a PM we can definitely set you up with a cam spec'd specifically for your car and goals as well as supporting mods if you're interested in them as well.

Hi, you asked me to PM you about the cam setup I wanted? Not sure if you read what I want in my original post.
