Default 2008 Vette with dead battery

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, I've only had my car for a few months and I terrified to do anything to mess it up. My car has a dead battery after sitting in my garage for a month. I've read a few posts with mixed reviews about whether or not to just jump start the car or get a new battery. I would love some advice.

I have an 08 also, with the OEM battery. Last week my battery went dead after after 6 hers of vinyl classics while detailing. I gave it 30 minutes on boost with shop charger, started it to put in the garage. Hooked my trickle charger and gave her a couple of days. Went on 50 mile cruise yesterday after resetting windows, etc. No residual issues, but I do plan to replace the battery before winter. You won't hurt nothing, just take it for what it is. A warning shot across your bow.

The C6 is very hard on batteries. One month is too long to let it sit without a maintainer. I would make sure it is fully charged and have a load test done. That's only test that will show the condition. Usually a dead battery will drastically reduce the life span. When you replace it make sure to get a premium battery. I drive six miles a day round trip to work and put a maintainer on for the weekend.

If it's the OEM battery (six years old) a replacement is a good move. Get a maintainer and use it after that.

Just remember when you change your battery you need to re-index the windows. Read your manual,it's easy.
All you have to do is raise both windows till the windows stop, and then hold both switched to the up for few seconds, and your done, now that's not hard.
Good luck, and my two cents I always use Delco batteries with no problems.

The battery on my 2011 just died last week. No warning, was fine the weekend before and when I went to start it the next weekend no dice. I replaced it with an Advance Gold battery. The original battery was just over 4 years old. I guess I'll buy a trickle charger for this winter...

Actually, you want a battery minder / tender, not a trickle charger.

^^^^ Yes, there IS a difference. So, get a "maintainer" unless you really want a trickle charger (which I think you do not).

If it was mine, I would get a new battery. Needless to say, you should get a battery tender as well. I found out the hard way with my C5. The C6 is even tougher on batteries.

My bad on the terminology, I meant a battery tender...
