Which Michelins
Coming up time to replace the shoes on my girl..
I am going to go Michelins, not the ZP's, not the all season's...which do I get, the PS2's or the Super sports? Or any suggestions on other Michelins would be welcomed.
Oh..yeah...C6 Base Coupe.
Thanks...

I have Super Sports and I ,liked them so much, I bought a set for another car I have.
As the cars get older, you get many owners that won't spend the money for Michelin's, but nothing else compares.

I have the PS Plus Run flats on mine. I do not have anything else to compare them too but I have had no issues with them. They are very responsive and are wearing nicely. I only have around 3K on the rears and around 6K on the fronts.
I have hear the Super Sports do offer a little better ride, but have not experienced it myself.

Getting some ideas.....
Michelins have a tread life guarantee, while none of the others I looked at do...
So..which Michelins? The Pilot Super Sport or the Pilot Sport PS2's?
What is the real difference between the two? (Other than tread pattern and price?)
Anyone have thoughts on the Continentals tires or the Bridgestone tires?
Again...thanks!

If you want performance, Super Sports, if you won't run flats, Pilot Sport PS2.
Continentals came on my wife's new Ford and I have Bridgestone Blizzacks for my three regular cars to be used in snow, but I prefer the performance of Michelin products for summer use.
Just an opinion.

FWIW erick_e , the Super Sports are already available in Z06 sizes, as I have them. I have run the Super Sports on a C5 and on my current C6 both in its stock base and current widebody conversion states and I will tell you... I will NEVER run another tire! These are the best tires I have found for these cars for performance. Here is a link to a comparison of the PSS and PS2's... http://blog.tirerack.com/blog/make-d...t-sport-ps2-v2 Of course, you will lose your "run flat" capability...but I have roadside assistance and towing, so not really worried about it. I have had a flat once in the last 10 years or more. I am careful where I drive. These tires have excellent handling in both dry and wet condtions and they have very acceptable wear for a performance tire. I almost went with the Nittos when they first came out, but I have spoken with many people who switched that regret leaving the Michelin camp for those. I just hope they never stop making them...lol... Best of luck.

From what I have heard, the PSS handles as well or better than the PS2 but with better tread life. They are both available in runflat and non-runflat in base C6 sizes. I got the RF version and love them.

If you purchase your tires from Discount Tire and purchase the free replacement certificates they will stand behind tires until they are down to 3/32 tread and also cover the mileage unless there is an issue with alignment. If the tire is not repairable they replace the tire for free.
BTW Michelin does allow these tires to be repaired unless it is outside the puncture is outside the normal repairable area or is too large. I have a nail in one of my rears and it was repairable.
Cost is around $50 each for the certificates and I believe well worth the $$

Drifting
My stock GY'S are reaching the end of the road and I'm planning on replacing them with the PSS soon. I'll just toss a small tire kit in the trunk. I've heard nothing but good things about them. Having a base coupe, you have more options. With a Grand Sport, my options are pretty limited.

For all 4 tires, mounted balanced, tax, etc, and I keep my G.Y.'s (Tread is only 1/4 gone...only 5000 miles on them) 1224.82, out the door. And that is with the 'no questions asked' mileage/road hazard, 100% fee replacement, guarantee at any D.T. in the country!
Not too shabby!

My stock Pilot tires from the factory have 400 miles on them. Under even moderately aggressive driving these things let loose way to early. On my last Carrera I ran the top Continentals and they were great. Anyone here use them on a Vette?

PS2s are the old tire - the replacement is the super sport. there is absolutely no reason to go with the PS2 unless youre getting them cheaper. Michelin even makes a Super Sport in runflat now so even the PS2 ZPs are dated...

Absolutely agree. The PS2s were great but the MPSS are better in every way; they last longer, have better handling wet and dry, stop shorter and @ least in my sizes (285/18s, 345/19s) are $470 cheaper - a no brainer.
