Default What are differences between '08 6.2L and '14 6.2L??

Really would prefer a list of engine changes from year to year.

Curious what changes were made to up Hp from 430 to 460+.

Thanks, Bob

The biggest differences in '14 are the addition of direct injection, variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation. For all of this added weight and complication, I would have expected more of an improvement in horsepower.

Not to mention the probable added complexity of computer programming, sensors, monitors, etc. I also would have thought there's room for more hp with all this added to the engine. About the only thing I can think of is it's being saved for later years so that later cars will have some "new and improved" aspects like 15 hp here and there.

There's not a lot of common parts between the 2008 to 2013 6.2L 430HP and the 2014 6.2L 460HP. They are nearly two different engines with the same displacement.

Completely different engines, it would take a book to describe it. Apples and oranges all the way.

The overall number isn't that much higher but the HP and TQ curves are much more impressive.

LS3 has real gaskets, LT1 has "make a gaskets" gaskets.

Thanks....didn't realize this. Gotta question all the expense involved to develop a new engine for 30hp though...even if the curves are better.
