Find a tuner you trust and use what ever they recommend for your application, because at the end of the day, the tuner is the one you are going to hold accountable. I have a Comp Cams 54-469-11. Not a recommendation, only information.
While power output may be similar, there are different lobe designs and core materials. Some custom cam designers have an inherent advantage over others just because of the lobes available to them.

Lobe design affects average power, valvetrain stability, and reliability. This usually isn't shared as people only look at power numbers.

Sure I also spoke with my tuner before buying anything, but he couldn't compare to the LS3 cam timing experience of Martin. I talked to as many people as possible sucking up as much knowledge as I could.

Everyone has a specialty, and I chose to use someone that specializes in cam timing when spec'ing the cam.

Listen to the smart cam guys on this site. My cam is sewing machine noisy and rough on spring life.
I also have a 05 a4 and want to currently cam it. Did you use the stock converter? How was down low? Torquey? Slouch out the hole? Thanks

There are tons of cams out there that will make good power and drive/sound amazing so keep that in mind.. I went with the TSP Torquer v2, my mods and ET are in my sig. I am happy with how it drives and runs overall.
