Default g meter

My 2009 heads up display g meter went AWOL. Do I have to replace the whole unit? Thanks for any help. Captain Slow

Now you're sure it went AWOL? Remember that the G-meter display only works in Track Mode 1 and Track Mode 2. Also, the G-meter display is only valid for the current engine-on cycle. Once you shut the engine off, it's gone.

Just checking, because some folks didn't know this.

Also, IIRC the G sensor(s) supply inputs to the Active Handling system. You don't want that to stop working or worse, start doing crazy stuff with the brakes.

Best to find out what's happening with your G meter...

and also....the G-meter in the HUD is only displaying the G information that is circulating on the information bus. That info is accessed by a number of devices in the car, most notably the active handling system as Jim said above. So you need to find out if the actual data is incorrect or if it is just being displayed improperly by the HUD. The HUD is simply a display device, like a computer monitor...it does not have a G-meter in it. It only pulls a bunch of different data streams from the CANBUS data network and displays them. Speed, oil pressure, rpm, lateral Gs, etc are all examples of data displayed in the HUD but provided by the data bus.
