Default DIY long tube header install

How long did it take to install long tube headers?

I will be doing mine on a lift at work. Trying to get an idea on how much time it may take.

I'm a novice, took me 5 hours start to finish, take off 30 minutes total for jacking the car up and taking it down. That time also includes the x pipe change.

It also depends on your type of vette, you don't tell us much in your post.

Meaning, it will take longer with a dry sump, because you have to drain and refill the oil, and unhook/rehook the oil lines.

It took a shop that does it all the time about 4 hours to do my dry sump LS3 setup. It would have taken me about 6 hours I figure, because I would not have been as organized as them.

With average knowledge and tools and working by your self it'll take all day. Longer if it's old, original parts coming out, rust and corrosion take lots of time.

You should have a helper for the heavy, awkward pieces like the mid pipe and to hold pieces while you tighten bolts.

Me an other guy did in three hours on jack stands, but the car was new, so we had zero issues with rusty bolts.

Also upgraded the tunnel plate at the sametime.

Took me about 6 hours or so if I remember correctly. I did it by myself on jack stands and I have a manual GS coupe with the dry sump system. I took my time double checking people's write ups and taking breaks. I think I used some WD-40 Specialist Penetrant Spray the night before just to relieve myself of possible headaches.

It took me a lot longer to do the interior insulation kit than it did the header install.

Good luck!

depending on your skill level, I would plan on at least 3 hours with a lift. don't forget a tunnel plate upgrade while you are there.

I did it on jack stands by myself and spent about a full day. The hardest part for me (alone) was lifting and aligning the midpipe section with the hi flow cats. Pretty heavy and awkward when you are on your back alone. A helper would have made things easier.

I work at a Nissan dealership. I will be using a two post lift with screw jacks and any necessary tools I may need. My Borla cat back exhaust was installed earlier this year, so I shouldnt have too much problem getting the x-pipe out.
Alldata calls for 1.5 per side to replace manifolds. Hopefully I can get it done in less than 4.

Hardest part for me was stuffing my arm up trying to route the O2 sensor wires.
