Default Blue Smoke

My 2006 Z06 is blowing a little blue smoke on acceleration. I have had the heads done. New valve guides, valves and springs. No smoke when just cruising just when I get on it hard. It's got 44k on the motor. It does burn about a quart every 2-3K miles. Any suggestions?

What do the plugs tell you---one or more look different, fouled, etc.? Some would say one qt. every 2-3K miles is ok, but blue smoke to me is not so good. Do you still have cats?

I still have the cats, I have H/C and recently dyno tunned with no issues at the time. It has used oil but I just noticed the blue smoke recently and only when I accelerate hard. It's just a burst of smoke then goes away.

Not sure of oil checking procedure but oil level is ok (something like 5-8 minutes after cool down?)? and check procedure shows correctly?

Yep always wait at least 5 min before I check the oil level. In my mind smoke is not a good thing. All the plugs look good dry. No performance issues but hate to take any chances

Did they use stock or aftermarket springs? If they're aftermarket then it sounds like the valve seals aren't the right one or were installed incorrectly.

Higher lift cams need shorter valve seals as I found out the hard way a few years ago when I would chew them up on a regular basis.

What I'd recommend doing is pull each valve cover off and take a close look in and around the springs. If one or more of the seals got damaged you should see little pieces scattered around.

The other thing that might help is if you're not running an X or H pipe and the smoke is only coming from one side that'll tell you which side to start with first.

I had visual oil burn when I ran heavy weight oil with zinc. Went back to 5-20w and no smoke but still consumption (1qt per 2k). I had some small pluming at idle as well no cats with Xpipe

Blue smoke is oil burning. Could be rings but the place to start is the seals that were replaced.

Just wondering? If this lsx motor has a tendency to shut oil.Requiring an oil catch can inline with pvc valve. maybe the pvc valve is stuck open. or you need a second pvc on other left sidw valve cover. The catch can from cca is under the christmas tree.
