Default Kooks LT, CAI and Tune 419 HP and 430 TQ

Alright my first set of mods are done.

I did a kooks long tube headers 1-7/8" Catted X pipe and NPP Muffler set up

Halltech CAI and MGW shifter

Installed and tuned By gearheads performance in Arlington.

419 RWHP and 430 RWTQ

More impressive than the top end numbers, Is the amount of additional torque he was able to build in, in the lower RPM range.

I just thought I had traction problems before

Travis (the tuner) told me the car was pulling 4-5 deg of timing from about 4800 RPM to redline.

He said I could have bad gas. He wants me to run this tank out completely and refill with a quality premium 93 Oct. then bring it back and do another pull. The gas in there was 93 Oct that had been in there for about a month

He said that the pulled timing was costing me 4-8 HP on the big end

Did you change the thermostat? It could be pulling timing due to high temp.

I did not replace the thermostat.

The runs were done at about 50 degrees and it made a little more power each run. I don't think heat soak was the issue, but I don't know that for sure

I will do a thermostat when I do the cam

Thanks for the idea, I will ask Travis

Default Fuel

I've been told by corvette specialist tech. From a chev dealer to ALWAYS use premium grade fuel vendors...shell, Mobil texaco etc...and of course 93 octane.( I also use StaBil additive because of the ethinol)

Looks like a few hi-speed passes are in order to burn up this gas

I will get her re-fueled and have Travis make another pass
