Default Best Lubricant for Modified Engine

Ok, Just got my C6 back on the road, rebuilt engine with a Stage 2 kit, heads, cam, lifters headers etc. Almost completed break in period now looking for the best oil to use. Rebuilt was due to a cam wipe which was due to the needle bearings going out in the lifter which I was informed was because of infrequency in oil change or type of oil used. I purchased the car used the repair had to be done only 6,000 miles and 2 months after my purchasing it. So all that being said, she is back on the road now and what type of Oil should I use for a modified engine, Royal Purple, AMS Oil, Mobile One, suggestions please.

interesting... I would expect the culprit is more likely temp causing foaming which in turn might be partly due to which oil was used.

I personally use Rotella T6 in everything from my street cars to race cars, it's a great oil at a good price and you can buy it at walmart. If all oil cost the same price I'd switch to brad penn probably.

Ask the folks that rebuilt the motor what they recommend. That's exactly what I'd use. They set the clearances in the motor.

Amsoil is the best oil out there in my opinion.

I would consider this:
AMSOIL Z-ROD 10w30 Synthetic Motor Oil (Product Code ZRTQT)
(zinc – 1440 ppm, phosphorus 1320 ppm)

Much higher anti-wear additives (ZDDP - zinc dialkyl dithio phosphate) than is allowed by current API SN or dexos1 spec oils. Very similar to the AMSOIL Dominator Racing 10w30 I use in my modded C5 Z06 at the track, but the Z-ROD has enough detergent/dispersant for 3-5k (or one year whichever first) oil change intervals whereas I change the racing oil out at about every 500 track miles.

More than happy to get AMSOIL products for forum members at dealer wholesale pricing, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.

All 'enthusiast' opinions aside....ya might want to consider FIRST what the engine builder recommends.....for both, the brand and especially, the proper weight.

Dis your engine builder use tight clearances what's ur oil pressure at oil temp.....I would use some break in oil for 500 miles, then depends how ur engine is built if its a tight tolerance on I would use 10 30 or 5 30......

We use Joe Gibbs's Driven oil. its the only one where I have seen the oil beat the additive in a friction test.

The weather here has been pretty uncooperative here so I haven't put many miles on it, I have about 180 to go to finish the 500 mile break in. Hopefully about mid March I will be able to finish the break in.
