Which size of brake rotors will fit to my C6 ZHZ corvette?
Hello, guys.
I got 2008 C6 ZHZ(Hertz) corvette just few months ago, and my brakes need to be replaced.
I searched about ZHZ, it equipped F55 suspension and 'larger cross drilled rotors.'
There is no Z51 letters on the sticker in the glove box.
So, kind of stupid question but should I choose brake rotors kit for w/Z51? or just choose without Z51 kit?

When dealing with brakes only, pretend the car has the Z51 option. Everything else is considered the base model, except shocks.
You'll see the codes F55 and J55 on the sticker. Those designate the shock and brake option on the car. The J55 brakes are just part of the F55 and Z51 options and were also available as a stand-alone option.

Generally those shocks will last into the 150K mile range. Why do you need to change them? Maybe when you see the price tag at the dealer, your opinion might change.

At approximately $700 per shock retail it pretty much means they are pricy. Some places will always want to sell you stuff and shocks are items that most consumers don't know enough about to make a good decision. Do your homework before spending your money. If you change to old school shocks, you have to change all 4 and also make changes in the electronics.
Wipe them off completely, then drive a couple thousand miles to recheck.
With a date code of 10/08, it sounds like Hertz put on new tires to sell the car or get a few more rentals before the '09's were available.

Unless they are confirmed to be leaking the magnetic fluid and not just road grime and oil and they aren't visibly damaged, then they are good.

I agree with HOXXOH, it is unlikely that the shocks need to be replaced. The people who recommended it may not even realize how expensive they are. And don't be discouraged by comments about the car being beat on by renters. The cars at Spring Mountain are run harder than any, and they hold up just fine. Not all renters are maniacs, many who rent Vettes are old guys who baby them...does that group sound familiar???

I'm old and I don't baby my car it's meant to be driven! second shocks arent that expensive $300 for a set of bilsteins, get rid of the mag ride crap! if you put runcraps back on you will still feel everything, you've already got Z51 sized brakes got to DBA 4000 series slotted rotors and hawk hps pads and you will have nose prints on the windshield!

Back after changing the tires
Very much better in comfort and stability.
recheck the shocks and no problem at all with them
