Vented hood owners , need advice .
Are you seeing any drop in engine tempature running the vented hoods on the street.
Im looking at the Vented H-design Carbon Creation hood for my 06-Z.
Not so much for the carbon look (it will be painted) but for the functionality of the heat venting for Florida daily driving .
Ide really like to drop 5-10 degrees if possible .
Thoughtz ?
Thankz

Under hood temp or water temp. I had no change in water temp, but dropped about 20 degrees of under hood when I checked surface temps with a heat temp gun.
I also have Z07 radiator that has a bunch more capacity than a stock radiator.

I was hoping i can shead 5-10 degrees of coolent temp sitting in traffic with a vented hood in 90+ temps on our black asphalt roads .
I have a Dewitt radiator and spal fans cooling a 440ci ls7.
On 95 degree days when the car is moving my temps hover between
190-210 but when im in stop and go traffic it goes up to 225-230 .
Every now and then i will see 235 and the AC turns off but thats very rare and it bugs the hell out of me

Do you run much antifreeze? If so reduce the amount of antifreeze and add Water Wetter.

Worth a try.

That should be the reduction im looking for .
Thankz

The system and the coolant are intended for a 50/50 mix, more than 50% coolant degrades cooling.
Since you've changed to a higher capacity radiator make sure all of the shrouds are properly fitted to the radiator since any gaps or blocking of the radiator can have a big negative effect on cooling efficiency. Since the temperature climbs in traffic that suggests that the system need more airflow. You should check to make sure that the electric fan and shroud are propery fitted with no gaps and that the fan is running at full power. You might want to consider a higher capacity fan. This is not rocket science, if you have enough radiator and fan and if the rest of the system is up to specification your temps in traffic should not surge.
