C5 M6 3.42 rear diff to 2005 A4?
Can an C5 M6 3.42 rear diff be bolted to a 2005 A4? Will it bolt right to the A4 trans and I would have to get some type of conversion adapter to get the diff to mount to the rear cradle?
Thanks

I just went through this. Apparently you can mount a c5 style diff, however there is not a commercially available adapter plate mass produced, a few people have made adapters and a couple companies used to sell them but I did not see any available when I was looking a few weeks ago. My understanding is also that you have to match drill the cradle with additional holes which some people are not fond of.
You can mount a c6 diff out of a 06 or newer base M6 car using an adapter from RPM, it isn't cheap though at about 500 bucks for the adapter but besides that everything will bolt right up. A base car M6 3.42 diff will have the correct 27 spline input shaft to match your tranny.
