Default Torque tube repair

It appears I need some work done on my 2007 C6 Z51 torque tube, to replace the bearings and/or couplers. I'm in the greater Houston area and the local dealer is estimating $3K for the job. Any recommended Corvette repair shops in this area would be appreciated.

Get an estimate from Corvettes of Houston. They can probably even put in used parts if you are on a budget, assuming your car is mostly stock. If it's seriously nodded, stick with new or get upgrades from RPM transmission.

Default Torque tube repair

Sorry, can't recommend a shop, but be aware that every bearing in the torque tube can be replaced. I can get you the part numbers for them if you need them. There's only 3 and they're about $100-120 total. The couplers are maybe $60-70 a piece.

You better be getting a lot for $3K. That sounds pretty high

Default Torque tube repair

Hey man, torque tubes are very reliable something has to cause the bearings to go bad, bent drive shaft maybe? Just replaced mine, first time was a rebuild, bent drive shaft, unnoticed the first time Luckily I have a lift. If you are gonna rebuild? Please make sure that your drive shaft isn't bent or you will be doing the same. Sometimes you can't see the bend with just you eyes. Good luck.
