Default C-7 Carbon Zr-1 extended spoiler .... Just my opinion

$ 544.00 , TRASH !!

After waiting on Corvette mod for same after four weeks got refund. Waited another two weeks from C7 and finally got this Trash.

It is only held on by two screws inboard and only one on both ends. The two center bolts have to be studs, (larger than existing studs)

One end holding third brake lite other end holding spoiler to car. You are left to figure it out yourself. The outer ends have to be marked on car and bolted down 1/4 - 20 Bolt from underneath. You have to come up with plan to mark car.

Finally the spoiler no matter what you do won't fit. IT is not plug& play it will have to be installed by professional. Have to find someone to apply and stand good for their work.

Finely, the two technical employees i had no pleasure in talking are as dumb as a stump. Yes I am pissed and will have to leave it up to those who are next. DON"T LET IT BE YOU.!!! (For warned)

105 views and no responses?

I was thinking about getting this spoiler after reading good (lately) and bad reviews. I guess I'm back to thinking about the OEM spoiler now.

Thanks for your input

Pics as promised:

center studs are good finger tightened. And with block still outer edges still won't lay down. The carbon fiber being stronger which you think would win pull test.

I think it's designed that way with true quality control. It's to allow the wind under the spoiler so that it will give more down force in the rear. Been tested in the wind tunnel of true quality control. I can see it now... j/k. Who did you buy that from again?

I have the same spoiler. I ran into the same gap issue on my car as well. Same side even. What I did was sand down the edge on the bottom on the spoiler to round off the edge a little more. After doing this as well as letting the spoiler sit out in the hot sun for a while(to help with flexibility) I was able to make it conform to my car. Looks great now....

It does mention in the instructions that the spoiler may need extra work to conform to the car, so I wasn't surprised by it. I'd do it again...

I'm done with indecision!

Just ordered a new OEM Spoiler $631 to my door.

But of course I need to have it painted too

WOW, what a bad deal, I had bought one from corvette mods, installed it myself and I didn't have this issue at all, you should ship it back and get a discount of some short. Sorry to see this happen to a fellow vette owner.

Issues with some vendors keep resurfacing but this is the first I've heard about this particular one. I know the ones from Chevy are higher in price but it seems the extra dollars spent assures one of satisfaction.
Sorry to hear about your dilemma but more upsetting is the lack of follow up to right the issues by the vendor.

Mine fit poorly as well. I wish that I had spent a little more and bought the MTI one.

C7 Carbon parts fit really good compared to Carbon Creations. Their product is real junk.

My APR splitter and rear diffuser fit perfect!

My spoiler fit perfect but wasnt carbon fiber. Anyone buying carbonf fiber should know they never fit perfect imo. Always either need some dremeling sanding so if you arent comfy take it to a pro or send back to c7 im sure theyll make it right. They have done well by me. Sprry to see your exp though

I had the same problem. After i bolted it down the back of the spoiler fit good but theres still a gap on the front. Without it bolted down the gap is ridiculous. Seems its not molded right. I saw a c6z at the track with the zr1 extended wing and immediately recognized it as the c7 carbon from that exact gap and realized it wasnt just a problem with mine.

What did you use for the sanding part??
I bought a C7 fiberglass spoiler from a member here. I am really hoping that it fits with no problem but we shall see. I guess its a few of them have fitment issues while some others don't.

Mine fit perfectly...

Locating the two holes is easy and can be done in your driveway... there are a couple Youtube vids out that walk you through the process

What i did was lay tape over the car where the spoiler would contact and then ran the two bolts into the holes on the spoiler and then lowed the spoiler down and with a marker I marked the location of the holes onto the tape... Drilled the holes and adjusted them as needed with the bit...

I did not have the gap that you guys have shown.

All in all I felt it was well built and easy to install.

Just hand sanded the bottom with sandpaper. I was careful to only do the bottom and to not mess up the clear in the top and sides.

My extended spoiler fits very well, but the third break light does NOT fit in the Spoiler. There is a lot of extra fiberglass build up that I'm gonna have to dremel/cut out in order to get the light to fit properly. Kind of pisses me off.
