Default Stuck in first....

Hi all!

I have a 2006 stock auto which all of a sudden is stuck in first gear and won't shift into second! I tried both "D" and "S". The paddle shifters wont work and the check engine light now turned on. Car has only 26,000 miles. Any ideas? Haven't checked code yet..

Likely and internal switch or valve, somewhat common.

The common codes are P0700 in combination with: P1825, P2714, P2715, P2724.

Thank you. Does that require transmission to be pulled?

find someone with a tech2 and have the codes pulled. then you will know approximately what's involved.

I am suddenly having the same problem, how did you resolve this on your car? My 2008 C6 base auto won't shift out of first gear in S or D modes, check engine light is on, can't find my OBDII reader, just ordered another one.

Dave--started another thread, see link below. But for an update, shut the car down, same as yours 2008 convertible base auto, went back out an hour later and it will shift now correctly in manual/sport mode, forgot to try in D mode but problem seems to be gone. Could be some crap in the automatic transmission fluid, an electrical gremlin, not sure, the check engine light is still on and I'll run those codes tomorrow when Amazon delivers my OBDII reader.

That's interesting because when I went back out to try again I used a different key fob!
