Default Cam, headers with stock mufflers

Anyone try running a bigger cam and headers with the stock mufflers? Pros/cons? Any louder?

I have for 8 years or so. Can't hear much with stock mufflers, Chevy ought to be ashamed. But for most of my regular driving, it's nice being quiet.

But I have QTP cutouts for when I want to make some noise.

My buddy had a cammed/headers C6Z with stock exhaust with the Mild/Wild switch.

It sounded great.

I was surprised how good it sounded too. And if he had B & B Bullets, it would have been even louder. But if you are getting a cam and headers, suggest leave the exhaust stock until you hear it and make a decision.

Joe G, the Z sounds sick with the cutouts.

Ssmoke-U, your C5 reminds me of mine when I had to go back to stock exhaust in Germany.

2008 C6 A6 here. I am another with cam ("Spinmonster" 230/234), LG street headers (no convertors), and the stock NPP exhaust. IMO, it sounds great in the open setting, and quiet enough in the closed setting to get out of my neighborhood without any complaints.

NPP is a good way to go. You can add collars to the actuator to adjust the closed volume to your liking.

A small diameter shaft collar can be placed on the actuator rod so that the exhaust valve does no totally close. It provides a little extra exhaust noise when the NPP is close.
