What can I do to get better traction?
I've got an 07 F55 with an A6. The engine has the Lingenfelter 500hp package (GT11 cam, ported heads, etc). It also has header back exhaust. When I was installing the headers, I also noticed that the diff cover has "RPM 2.93" written on it, but the previous owner was unaware of this. I'm assuming it is geared though at the very least. After I installed the headers, I had it tuned and it made 426hp and 398 lb/ft. I've also bought a set of CCW's with 12" wide rears with Nitto Invo 325/30/19's that tuck in really well.
That said, I really want more traction. If you're accelerating hard, traction is non existent in first gear and scarce in second. It will get sideways if I punch it at 60mph. Short of a mini tub or wide booty to fit bigger meats, is there anything I can do? I don't drag race. If anything, I might do an autocross here or there just for fun. I just want to be able to nail it and go just to make driving it more fun.

Invo's are GARBAGE. ....get some toyo R888's, pilot sport cups, nitto nt01's.....fantastic traction w/o sacrificing handling. Actually a great handling improvement over the invo's

Kumho XS's are another good DOT road coarse type tire on the inexpensive side, so long as you don't drive in wet conditions!!!
Once they get wet, your petty much white knuckling it (same can be said for super cups as well).

Thanks for the tire suggestions. The Invo's came on the wheels when I bought them, but I've never ran them before so figured I'd give them a try. I had GSD3's on my old car and loved them, but I think they're out of production now. I've also been told that KDW's are pretty decent.

Invos are a street tire for general use. Better than stock, but the straight line traction improvement is disappointing. I'd suggest taking them off if they have resale value and get some money out of them. Then buy a better tire. R compound if your mileage isn't real high.

It seems there is a consensus. I'll probably run them this summer since I just spent money buying the car, headers, rims, etc, and then pick up some new tires this fall.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Just FYI, I have a 2012 C6, with auto, and a 2007 Saturn Sky Redline, with auto. I'm also considering a Lingenfelter 600 hp upgrade, for the C6, but am worried about the traction issue too. My Sky has a different exhaust and is flashed for 27 lbs of boost. It dyno'd at 386 ft lbs, at the rear wheels. But it gains 100 ft lbs in 100 rpm, from 3000 to 3100. So, it actually pulls much harder than the Vette, at least initially. Runs 0-60 in 4.2 and quarter in 12.9. The rear axle ratio is 3.42 compared to the Vette's 2.57. Of course, this helps it launch much harder too.
It came with Goodyear F1's, like the Vette, but not run flats. Basically, it would light the tires up with just a dab of throttle. What to do? I sprung for some Michelin Pilot Super Sports (they're 245's, front and rear) and it helped a ton. When I launch now, I just get some wheelspin at the 1-2 shift. These are generally acknowledged as the best all around sport tires money can buy. And I have to agree. Handling is way up and traction for drag racing too. I'll probably be getting a set for the C6 soon. They last longer than other sport tires too. Win/win. And they don't cost much more than the competition.
