Default Cost to rebuild a C6 transmission?

What should I expect to pay for a C6 tranny rebuild?

They make an auto and manual transmission, so I'm sure it would depend which one you have.

How long is a piece of string?

No year, no model, no type, tough question to answer.

And, it is also helpful to know why it is needed to be rebuilt, and if you want it rebuilt to stock specs or any performance expectations

OK, here is my response.............

2005 A4 62K miles. Transmission gave me fits after dealer flush. Many codes and fibrous pieces in fluid. A trusted local shop charged $2700 for a complete tear down and rebuild with a few upgraded OEM parts.

I watched him for approx. 25% of the time it took, and based on the pieces and parts there were on the bench, the skill with which he put everything back together, and the end results..........how well it functions............smooth shifts, hope I don't jinx it by saying flawless.

Not to be funny, but you should expect to pay what you already did pay. But in the future, if you have the time to check out places and prices, I would say less than $2700, but not by a lot. It's difficult to read about and tell the extent of the damage to the trans, or the quality of new parts put in.

Needless to say, while flushing (with actual power behind it, not a drain and fill) always sounds like a good thing, sometimes it is not. Yours was one of those cases where it was not.

I am just curious...if the dealer (an actual GM dealer) did the flush which caused almost immediate problems, what did they tell you when you took it right back to them???

Good question. I didn't take it back to the dealer. Hindsight tells me maybe I should have at least called to ask if anyone else reported troubles after a flush. Guess I had no reason to distrust them because they treated me well on other issues and I always talked to the vette tech each time, and they sell hundreds of corvettes......... but I trusted a local shop more. He spent time diagnosing the transmission before deciding to do a rebuild.

If I had a dealer do a flush, and soon thereafter, I then had to get someone rebuild my transmission the way you described, I would certainly take my bills and info back to the dealer, and try to get them to pay a portion of it. The worst they can say is no.

I forget the details, but I've read in other forums (Cadillac?) that a transmission flush can cause contamination problems if not done correctly.
