New Hinson 1 7/8 Z06 stainless header review ls7 corvette
I just finished installing these. Car sounds great. I was a Guinnea pig so to speak (out of my own pocket of course) i have not had the car tuned yet we litterally just finished the install..
If your looking for a set of brand new headers I can't imagine there being any better value than this. The ceramic coating is what really and truly made me click that buy it now button without hesitation.
I had a couple of issues along the way but Hinson has assured me they will take care of them for me. And it was entirely related to shipping not the product.
Fitment was OK... There was no rubbing and the headers slid right in just like the video. My only complaint was the xpipe slip fit. It's connection was a total bear! Otherwise everything fits perfectly and my tail pipes now line up better than they did with stock parts. Very satisfied.
Sound is great! I've only idled it a couple times to break in the coating but it made my exhaust note come to life. The sound is now deeper and much throatier as a corvette should sound. It added a ton of drone but I think that's to be expected with headers.
I currently have a pretty Nasty exhaust leak which I'll be attempting to tighten up after my 3rd break in heat cycle finishes and everything cools
Power is yet to be determined but again I can't imagine it making any more or less power than any other set of headers on the market.
Bottom Line:
Edit:
I was overly impressed at first install however after a week i am dealing with the ceramic coating simply peeling off which makes the product in my opinion Something to reconsider.... I hope they get this issue fixed for others... The headers were also broken in properly as according to the instructions 3 hear cycles plus an hour of normal driving...
New edit 10/4/16
Well these have been on my car now for 14 months and 3k miles
I've recently decided to build my drive train, let's just say removing these was a pain, because they aren't stainless they rusted pretty badly together... frankly just disappointed
Also see what's left of the "ceramic coating" which I'm assuming was vht or similar ceramic spray paint. My hands aren't black from dirt it's from the paint running off
Power gains were great I'm at 564 with just headers and a big cam but the quality could be GREATLY improved upon, likely at a higher cost as well.

Is there a bung for a wideband in the xpipe? I know it is simple enough to get one installed but I'm curious. I'm thinking of switching my obx headers for these.

No there's not. I need to contact Hinson. It's been 4 days since I installed them I broke them in correctly and I've got several areas where my ceramic coating is already starting to chip and peel off.
I have had the OBX setup before on my car previously and they made a whole lot more heat

Well here you go... Here's a dyno sheet of my stock z06
Mods before headers.
Haltech killer bee intake and tune 487 hp
After Hinson header install and retune +8 hp +11 ft/lb

Melting Slicks
looks like you gained a decent amount in the midrange which is more than those peak gains. Sucks about the coating issues though. Maybe that primary got nicked during install? Tell Bryan and Sam I said hi lol.

It did get damaged during shipping. Brian offered to exchange it before the install but assured me it wouldn't donexactly what it is doing so I kept and installed, it's a new product so nobody could have known.... The power feels good though and to be up front on the power increase most people who get 20hp after headers are working with a car who probably wasn't already tuned so the power increase is pretty reasonable

"We are not charging for the coating, so it will not be warrantied."
That was the red flag for me

Curious how this turned out. Did they warranty the coating?

Le Mans Master
Is this a typical gain for headers? Cause if so, that certainly is not worth the trouble and expense imo.
I'm still trying to work out my next mod but not sure if any meet my criteria.
Thanks.

No, it is not. Re-read posts 7 and 9. And I am a little confused by OP in that he says there was OBX headers on before. Is that WITH the 487 rwhp? Or not? Otherwise, it's a tune, Halltech for 487 rwhp.
